The Remnant Church Community Easter Egg Hunt has become one of the most largest and most popular in the Wabash Valley, and it’s an event that is growing as the years pass.
“We started at Collett Park doing it ourselves, then we grew past that. Then we went to North High School and we just took a leap of faith and said ‘You know what, we keep getting more and more people wanting to be a part of this’. I couldn’t think of any better place than the Wabash Valley Fairgrounds,” said Branden Norman, lead pastor at Remnant Church.
Filling the Wabash Valley Fairgrounds with approximately 30,000 eggs can’t be done without some help and this afternoon dozens of volunteers headed to Remnant Church to help prepare for this large egg hunt.
“It’s not everybody from our local church. Different organizations have come out, they believe in it and they want to volunteer,” Norman said.
Two of the volunteers that believed in this egg hunt are ISU students who say even though they aren’t a member of the church, they are happy to give back to the community.
“It’s really heartwarming knowing that just because I go to school here, I can make such a big difference on the community also,” said Skyler Miller, ISU student.
“It’s just a simple thing, all we’re doing is stuffing eggs and thousands of kids are going to love it,” said Madison Igleheart, ISU student.
Norman says with the support of the community they are able to make thousand’s of children’s Easter a special one.
“It is such a blessing that we can serve our community and we can put a smile on these kids face because some of the greatest memories they might have is just right here at this easter egg hunt, and we’ve all worked together to make that happen,” Norman said.
The Remnant Church Easter egg hunt will take place this Sunday, April 14th, at the Wabash Valley Fairgrounds. Registration will begin at 10 a.m. Four egg hunts will take place based upon age group. There will also be a car show, carnival games, and prizes.
The event is free.
