ROBINSON, Ill. (WTWO/WAWV) — Monday night, first responders were recognized for their hard work after the devastating tornado that hit Crawford and Sullivan County.
Crawford County held an appreciation dinner at the Community Center in Robinson. Awards were given out to all first responders who helped during and after the tornado.
Crawford County Board Chairman Bill Burke said it’s a great way to honor those who helped the community.
“These guys and gals were the ones that were behind the scenes checking homes, making sure that everything flowed properly, dropped things with their families to be here. When you talk [to] 26 fire departments, [some were] an hour and 20 minutes away came to help us that night and we just felt that it was something we could do to give back to them,” Burke said.
Burke encourages you to thank all first responders when you see them.
