BRAZIL, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Live music lovers can set sail across the sea with the Brazil Concert Band during their upcoming Nautical Night in Forest Park concert.
The Brazil Concert Band, which dates back to 1858, will play at the band shell at Forest Park, Sunday, June 25 at 8 p.m. rain or shine.
Concertgoers will get to cruise along with “Hands Across the Sea” and “Glory of the Yankee Navy” by Lt. Commander John Philip Sousa who directed the Great Lakes Naval Band during the first World War. The band will then present the song “Victory at Sea” from the NBC television coverage of World War II.
An auditory detour to the land of Disney will bring “Pirates of the Caribbean” by Klaus Badelt and arranged by Ted Ricketts, as well as a favorite from The Little Mermaid as the band will perform “Under the Sea” by Alan Menken and Jerry Nowak.
The show will also include the tunes “South Pacific” by Rodgers and arranged by Philip Lang as well as “Some Enchanted Evening”, “A Wonderful Guy”, “Bali Ha’i”, and “There’s Nothin’ Like a Dame.”
A Salute to the Navy and Coast Guard with “Anchors Aweigh” by Captain Alfred Miles and Charles Zimmerman as well as “Semper Paratus” by Captain Francis Boskerck.
And to close the show the band will play “The Turtle Waddle” by Gus Guentzel, and “Army and Marine” by Wilhelm Zehle.
Attendees can enjoy refreshments along with the music thanks to the Elks managing the concession stand throughout the show, including offering their pork tenderloin sandwiches.
