VINCENNES, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – Good Samaritan is partnering with VanGo to expand transportation service hours to the community and surrounding areas.
Beginning February 4th VanGo will add 30 additional hours each week. The new hours will be Monday through Friday 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. and on Saturday and Sundays
transportation will be available from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m.
During Good Sam’s 2022 Community Health Needs Assessment, access to care was identified as an essential area for improvement. Lack of transportation was identified as
a key barrier to receiving health care.
VanGo Public transportation Director, Rebecca Pinnick, said that VanGo is excited to work with Good Sam. She said they listened to the community and agreed there
was a need for expansion. She said that as the community grows, they hope to grow with them.
Director of case management and social services at Good Sam, Brandy Shouse said the collaboration between Good Samaritan and VanGo would enhance the patient experience by offering patients the opportunity to attend appointments, pick up needed medications and provide safe and timely evening and weekend discharges.
The expanded service hours will not only be for medical needs. VanGo provides low-cost transportation for many needs in the community.
To schedule a ride, the community can call dispatch at 812-886-3381 or download the Mobility by Ecoline app. To download on the Apple Store, click here, or on a Google device, click here.
