TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – The building which was once known as Twelve Points State Bank now has a new tenant, a new restaurant called Great Giorno.
“We’re excited to open. We’ve worked hard, we’ve got going. So we’re ready,” said Jimmy Saliju, owner of Great Giorno’s.
Wednesday, the restaurant that serves mainly Mediterranean and Italian cuisine opened their doors for business.
Saliju says bringing more business to Terre Haute is about doing what he feels is good for the community and especially 12 Points.
“There’s a lot of people who are trying very hard to get this area going and I’m doing my part,” Saliju said.
While bringing Great Giorno to life and preparing for customers, it was those who have worked to revitalize their community who stepped up to help.
“We came this morning and put some table decorations out, hung some pictures and cleaned, and we just wanted to get involved,” said Susan Mardis, 12 Points Revitalization Initiative.
Mardis says as her neighborhood continues to move forward and tries to attract more businesses like Great Giorno, she understands that team work is key.
“When you want something to succeed then you have to have ownership in it and you have to help the people that are trying to come in and do their job,” Mardis said.
Great Giorno is also looking to hire several positions including servers, cooks, and management.
You can apply directly at Great Giorno and Saliju also says they hope to do interviews on the same day.
