TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)— The American Red Cross is reporting an emergency blood shortage across the country and some local agencies are teaming up to help.
The Red Cross is partnering with the Terre Haute police and fire departments for a two-day blood drive this week. Battle of the Badges will be Wednesday and Thursday at the Vigo County YMCA. You’re invited to donate blood and, while you’re there, cast your vote for your favorite agency. Detective Josh Loudermilk with the Terre Haute Police Department says it’s a fun way to help address a serious problem.
“We’re trying to use our friendly rivalry to get our families, our friends, those in the community, out to donate,” said Detective Josh Loudermilk, Terre Haute Police Department. “Of course, we always have our friendly rivalry, at the end of the day, we know we have each other’s backs and that’s what’s most important and, so, we’re trying to have the community’s back here.”
