MATTOON, Ill. (WCIA) — Mattoon’s 38th annual Bagelfest is rolling out a fun-filled parade this Saturday.
This year’s theme is “Bagelfest Academy,” teaching the Central Illinois community about everything bagels — including “everything bagels!” Bagelfest officials said this year’s parade is spread on pretty thick with entries, so they advise participants to keep the gaps short.
The parade will step off at 10:30 a.m., with lineup at 9:30 a.m. The complete list of participants can be found here. It will end at 1st Street.
Until then, Wednesday evening’s Bagelfest events include the Bagel Bow Wow dog show at 5:30-7 p.m., and Carnival Armband Night from 6-10 p.m.
Officials also say free, non-edible bagels are available for parade participants to decorate, courtesy of BIMBO Bakeries. These will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis in the gazebo behind the Peterson House.
