TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO-WAWV)– A house fire in Terre Haute sent two children to the hospital Monday evening.
The fire happened in the 200 block of Kent Avenue and the Terre Haute Fire Department arrived about 7:30 pm.
Battalion Chief Scott Dalton said crews arrived quickly and all of the occupants got out of the structure.
When crews arrived, they found multiple children inside of the home without adult supervision, according to a statement released by the Terre Haute Police Department. Investigators believe fireworks sparked the fire.
Two juveniles were transferred to the hospital with unknown injuries. They were later transfered to a hospital in Indianapolis for further evaluation. No firefighters were hurt.
THPD detectives, the Vigo County Prosecutor’s Office and the Department of Child Services are currently investigating the incident.
