RICHLAND COUNTY, Ill. (WTWO/WAWV) — The Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 402 has recently announced a new scholarship opportunity.
According to the Richland County FOP Lodge 402, the organization is proud to announce its newly created William Joshua Schlick Memorial Scholarship.
The new scholarship has been formed and approved for use by Amanda Schlick and is intended to honor the service and dedication of William Joshua Schlick who served the Olney Police Department for 17 years.
“If you knew Josh, then you already know, Josh was a true public servant,” the Richland County FOP wrote. “Josh would put the needs of others ahead of his own. His public service mentality has been passed on to his family, who have denied the request of the FOP to help them directly, and instead have agreed for the FOP to help a deserving high school senior or college student pursuing a criminal justice degree.”
The annual $1,000 scholarship has a few requirements for applicants including being a high school or college student pursuing a degree in criminal justice, maintaining a minimum GPA of 2.5, demonstrating a financial need, and having a proven record of merit.
The money is intended to help students with their books, tuition, fees, and other program expenses. Richland County residents are preferred and encouraged to apply for the scholarship. The application can be found here and sent to the Richland County FOP.
