FARMERSBURG, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — According to a post from the Farmersburg Police Department Facebook, officers were led on a lengthy foot chase while attempting to arrest a man who was wanted in Sullivan County for possession of methamphetamine and probation violations.
Dec. 29 around 4 p.m. Farmersburg Police officers located a wanted person driving North from Sullivan and attempted to intercept the suspect. On SR 246, officers initiated a traffic stop.
As law enforcement approached police say the suspect, later confirmed to be Austin Ridge, 28, of Prairie Creek, fled the vehicle on foot and ran into a nearby field and wooded area. Law enforcement then released K9 units to track and locate Ridge.
Officers were able to cut Ridge off from exiting the wooded area by driving to the other side of the woodline and waiting for Ridge. Police say after ignoring verbal commands, Ridge surrendered at gunpoint and was taken into custody.
In addition to his previous charges of possession of methamphetamine and probation violations, Ridge was also charged with resisting law enforcement in Vigo County. Ridge was remanded to the Sullivan County Jail on a “hold without bond” warrant.
