TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — People looking for a warm place to stay Tuesday night in the Wabash Valley were taken care of by Reach Services and the Homeless Council of the Wabash Valley.
A temporary warming center has been put together during the recent cold weather and is located at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church at 215 N. 7th St. in Terre Haute, Ind. Workers with Reach Services said they keep an eye on the forecast and any time the wind chill or temperatures are very cold, the center opens.
The warming center is also accepting donations. They need coats, blankets, clothes or on-the-go food items. To drop off a donation, go to St. Stephen’s or Reach Services between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
Case Manager Andrew Miller said it is rewarding to help out with the community.
“It’s just extremely fulfilling and rewarding because it allows us to talk one on one with our guests,” Miller said. “And also potentially get them into housing.”
For more information on the warming center, call Reach Services. Those in need of transportation to the center can call (812) 5460-1458.
