TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — COVID-19 may have left Terre Haute’s Common Ground CrossFit and Yoga empty, but classes are still full.
“Pretty much within 12 hours of closing our doors we had online virtual studio and virtual cross fit box up and running,” said co-owner, Kelsey Terry.
Now that re-opening is getting closer, there’s changes along the new state guidelines.
Cleaning will happen between sessions, floors will be marked for social distancing and class size will shrink.
“On the yoga side it’s going to be a lot different. Class sizes will be smaller being able to run about six people at a time. And on the crossfit side were going to be able to run 10 people per class,” said co-owner, Molly Pabst.
Instructors will be required to wear masks. Those taking classes will have to wear one when they walk in the building. They can take it off when class starts.
Although Governor Eric Holcomb’s plan says gyms could reopen on May 22. Common Ground has their own plan to open June 1.
“We want to err on the safe side [and] make sure the government doesn’t make any changes,” Pabst said.
The owners said they can’t wait to welcome back their yogis and crossfitters.
“I feel like it’s going to be a lot of emotions when we open back up,” said Pabst.
